Well meaning friends and even some doctors say "more fiber," "more water," "more exercise." But our guts don't work normally. They move sloooowly. They sometimes barely move at all. For many of us, wracking constipation was our first and worst symptom, years before we were diagnosed. I'm not a doctor but man, have I tried several to get help. And so in the spirit of everyone has the RIGHT to poop, I share what works for me: --yes, lotsa water (we tend to get dehydrated), fruits and veggies, exercise.
--miralax daily. a half capful or capful in my morning coffee keeps things moving. It's not a stimulant laxative, but an osmotic one, which draws water into the gut. This natural remedy works for some but the point is, take it EVERY DAY (or evening) because our guts move slowly. I said that already, but can't say it enough, apparently,
--try every morning, even if you don't have the urge. --when I can't make myself go, liquid glycerine suppositories.
Go forth...and go.
